Ecumen announced today that Shelley Kendrick, Campus Administrator for the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis, will become Ecumen’s vice president of housing. Kendrick recently announced her departure from the Veterans Home and will begin in her new role with Ecumen on January 18.

Kendrick has more than 15 years of experience leading health care and skilled nursing operations in nonprofit and government environments. She has also developed an array of successful new programs for older adults, including home health and adult day services, transitional care, and fitness and wellness services.

“We’re very pleased to have Shelley join Ecumen,” said Gil Acevedo, Ecumen senior vice president of operations. “From my experience at the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs I know her to be an exceptional mission-driven leader with an integrative, strategic view, and she will be a great asset to the future of Ecumen and our vision of changing aging.”

Before joining the Minneapolis Veterans Home in 2010, Kendrick worked in a variety of leadership positions. The majority of her work was in Ohio before coming to the Twin Cities in 2009. As executive director for Volunteers of America National Services in Ohio, she led the development of a mix of new services for older adults, including home health and adult day services, transitional care, and fitness and wellness services. She has also served as a nursing home administrator for a county-owned home in Ohio and for Regency Healthcare.

Kendrick received her Bachelor of Science Degree in English Language and Literature from Eastern Michigan University and a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.
