The generosity of 90 golfers helped Ecumen raise nearly $25,000 at the company’s first-ever Changing Aging Invitational on Monday, September 12. Donations directly support Ecumen’s Awakenings program, which was piloted in 2009 and is now used in 14 communities in the Upper Midwest.

Awakenings is an innovative, three-year, Ecumen initiative that’s trying a new way to treat older adults who have Alzheimer’s and dementia. It emphasizes human relationships, non-drug therapies, and teamwork rather than commonly prescribed antipsychotic or other psychotropic drugs, which can actually reduce quality of life.

Read more about Awakenings in a recently released, nation-wide Associated Press story. Team Ecumen will also be walking in the Alzheimer’s Association’s “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” events across the country. Visit the Team Ecumen page to lend your support.

Congratulations to Collins Electric, the winning four-some!
