Ecumen Names Shawna Jokinen as New Executive Director in Grand Rapids, MN

Ecumen has named Shawna Jokinen as the new Executive Director of Grand Village in Grand Rapids. Grand Village, which is managed by Ecumen on behalf of Itasca County, provides a variety of senior housing and services for the Grand Rapids area. Jokinen will begin at Grand Village on May 29th.

“Shawna will be a tremendous asset to Grand Village and the greater community,” said Paul Libbon, Ecumen’s director of managed campuses. “She’s a highly collaborative, visionary and energetic leader who is extremely passionate about senior services.”

“I’m greatly looking forward to this new role,” said Jokinen. “Grand Village is such an important part of the vitality of Itasca County, and it’s an honor to help shape the future of senior service in the Grand Rapids area.”

Jokinen comes to Grand Village from Duluth, where she most recently served as Executive Director of Ecumen’s Bayshore Health Care Center, which serves more than 150 residents; and as Executive Director of Ecumen Lakeshore at Home, which provides at-home services throughout Duluth.

She joined Ecumen in 1997, serving as Assistant Administrator at Bayshore. From 2005 to 2007, she served as Administrator at Ecumen Scenic Shores in Two Harbors, Minn., overseeing a campus that includes assisted living apartments and a care center. In 2007 Jokinen returned to Duluth to become Administrator of Bayshore. In 2010 she led the start-up of Ecumen Lakeshore at Home and became the service’s Executive Director.

Jokinen is a graduate of the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, where she received a B.A. in Management with concentrations in Health Care and Human Resources.
